Beowulf Mining - Kallak mine
Description of the object:
It is one of the largest unused iron ore deposits in Sweden. The combined Kallak Deposit contains at least 600 million tons of iron. Plans to build a mine on this site have been met firce resistance from the indigenous Saami as well as other local residents. In 2014, the Government of the province of Norrbotten decided to give up mining in Kallak.
